About the image:
Stopping at Central Library. Passengers waiting for the tram. A moment in time held in the finished painting of the tram stop outside Manchester Central Library. How would you picture Manchester City Centre?
If you know it then trams and the Central Manchester Library will probably come to mind. This painting combines two subjects I’ve had on my “To Do” list for some time. Manchester Library and a Tram. Manchester’s Trams are something of an icon now so really warranted an interpretation.
And the library? Well it’s always been there!

The picture is a Giclee print onto watercolour paper of an original painting created in England in 2015. The original was created by initially drawing with pencil onto watercolour paper. These lines were then drawn over using masking fluid and then painted using watercolour paint and acrylic ink. Salt was also used in the process and some of the ink blown around using a straw. Once the painting was dry the masking fluid was removed to reveal the finished painting.

The original painting  Stopping at Central Library  was selected for the Society of Women artists Summer exhibition in 2015
The original picture is painted on watercolour paper. The image is created with masking fluid before painting it with watercolour wash covered with clingfilm. Once this is removed the picture is further developed using acrylic inks which are left to dry before the masking is removed to reveal the final picture.

This is a giclee print copy on A3 watercolour paper.
