London Icons

1300 GBP

Original Painting by Cathy S R Read.  Big Ben or Elizabeth Tower, as it has recently been renamed, is probably the most iconic image of London. The seat of the British Government. In the foreground is the Underground symbol, part of the transport system  essential to the running of the city. Two distinct symbols side by side.

Dimension of the painting:  76 cm high by 56 cm wide
Framing This artwork is sold unframed
Creation: The picture is painted on watercolour paper. She draws the lines with masking fluid to a planned arrangement before painting it with a watercolour wash which gets covered with clingfilm. Once this is removed the picture is further developed using acrylic inks which are left to dry before the masking is removed to reveal the final picture. Gold leaf was applied during the process and can be seen in the detail of the clock face.
